Pakistan violated UN resolutions, says Ram Jethmalani | Indian stand rational | | Neha Early Times Report
JAMMU, Nov 9: Notwithstanding his outrageous stand on former Pakistan President General Pervez Musarraf’s break-India four-point J&K solution, anti-democratic and divisive Article 370 and Hurriyat leaders in the valley, chairman of the so-called Kashmir Committee Ram Jethmalani, who was thrown out of the BJP for his anti-party activities sometime back, on Saturday called the Pakistani bluff and said that it was Pakistan and not India which violated the UN resolutions on Jammu & Kashmir. And he took this stand in Kashmir itself. “The usual slogan is that India had promised the will of the people should be determined by a plebiscite. References are given to the UN resolution. It is true that the UN did order a plebiscite but it was to take place when the last intruder from Pakistan vacated the whole of Jammu & Kashmir, including that portion that today is not in our occupation. That thing never happened. The plebiscite was to take place under the Indian flag over the whole of the state,” he said much to the chagrin of extremists like Syed Ali Shah Geelani. Not only this, Jethmalani further said: “India kept its promise that we will not allow the demographic character of Jammu & Kashmir to change. That’s why we never allow any Indian to come to Jammu & Kashmir and purchase land here. On the other hand, the whole demography on the other part has gone. The promise was to the generation that existed at that time. The promise was not to the totally-changed populace. The UN itself had gone into this and what is being forgotten is that Sir Owen Dixon examined this matter and came to the conclusion that plebiscite is no longer a feasible proposition”. What Jethmalani said was absolutely correct. It was for Pakistan to vacate the aggression before a plebiscite could be held with the Indian forces maintaining law and order in the illegally occupied territories of POJK and Gilgit-Baltistan to be be vacated by the aggressor Pakistan. |
