Can't brush aside Jethmalani's assertion | Separatists double agents? | | Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 9: Noted Supreme Court lawyer and chairman of the erstwhile Kashmir Committee, Ram Jethmalani, claiming that most separatists are "pro-India" and not Pakistani agents has exposed the so-called Hurriyat leaders before the Kashmiri people, whom they have been misleading for the past 22-years. "Jethmalani has been in touch with the separatists for the past many years and his assertion cannot be brushed aside," said a politician. He said, "Separatists have been meeting the lawyer for all these years and he has always said that all of them are his friends. There is every possibility of these people telling him that they are pro-India to garner New Delhi's sympathy and money as Jethmalani was appointed as the point man by the centre Government at one point of time." Pertinently, a few years ago there were speculations about separatists taking money from both India and Pakistan. "Money makes the world go round. It seems in front Pakistanis they claim that they are their men and when any track-II diplomat like Jethmalani approaches them with a good offer they claim that they are pro-India. What a shame?" opined a politician from a mainstream party. "Separatists have amassed huge wealth during the past 22-years and enjoy all the privileges which a VIP gets. They are the ones who have derived maximum benefit out of the violence and killings. One needs to ask them they don't have any known source of income then how come have they amassed so much of wealth," the politician added. He said many separatists enjoy the security cover and move around in expensive vehicles which a common man cannot even think about. "If they are anti-India then why do they need a security cover? Has this cover been provided to them to propagate anti-India sentiments and run their shops," he added. An analyst while talking to Early Times said, "Jethmalani has opened a Pandora's box as he knows the secrets of separatists. They (separatists) are holding meetings with track-II diplomats and people from Intelligence Bureau is no secret. Everyone knows about it. Till date who ever from Indian side has met these people he has made it clear that Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India and they have to talk within the ambit of the Constitution." He said, "If they (separatists) don't want to talk within the ambit of the constitution then why they used to meet different people from the Indian side." The analyst was of the opinion that separatists have been playing a "double game" and the Chairman of the erstwhile Kashmir Committee has exposed them. "Some people even used to claim that separatists themselves used to call the top police officials and request them to place them under house arrest," he alleged. Ram Jethmalani's assertion that most separatists are pro-India could prove to be the last nail in the coffin of the so called Hurriyat leaders. "History stand testimony to the fact that they have played a very dirty role since 1990, when armed insurgency broke out in JK. They instigated people to hit the streets they asked young boys to take up the arms. They played a pivotal role in ensuring that Kashmiri Pandits remain away from their homeland and what not. If it's proven that they are double agents who have built their castles on the graveyards of the innocents, whom they pushed towards violence, masses won't spare them," said a Kashmir watcher. |
