Pal of gloom descends on Kamalkote after LoC firing | | | Syed Tahir Bukhari Early Times Report BARAMULLA, Nov 9: Cease-fire violations by Pakistan have left the family of Gulshan Bano in deep shock. Bano who was scheduled to get married shortly died in the firing. A soldier also lost his life. Early Times came to know from locals in Kamalkote village about `unprovoked' firing by Pakistani rangers. Mohammad Rafiq Jingowa, father of the deceased Gulshan Bano 22, was sitting in his lawn when the firing started at 4 PM. The LoC is only three kilometers away from the village. At 5:55 in the evening, heavy motor shells hit the window panes of the house injuring Rafiq's wife Reshmi Begum and the eldest daughter Gulshan Bano. Lying in a pool of blood, Rafiq managed to shift them to the hospital. However, the doctors declared Gulshan as brought dead. A shattered Rafiq said," we had fixed her marriage in the nearby village Bandi but she is no more." Rafiq is all praise for the Indian Army. "We are here because of the Army. It safeguards our lives," he said. A local, Shahzaman Khan said that, "Pakistani troops fired heavy motor shelling and Rocket Propelled Grenades (RPG) which hit the civilian population causing extensive damage to life and property,' An Army official told Early Times that the Pakistani rangers fired from all kinds of guns including Machine guns and RPGs. "We gave them a befitting reply forcing them to stop fire," he said. Meanwhile, Defence Minister Arun Jaitley, spoke to media persons on the sidelines of the India Global Forum meeting and warned Pakistan that there cannot be a dialogue with Islamabad if ceasefire violations continue. |
