Divided over mandates for three Assembly segments, BJP in a fix | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 9: Serious differences emerged in the state unit of BJP over finalizing candidates for three Assembly seats of Nagrota, Gandhi Nagar and Billawar. Not only State unit even national leadership of BJP is divided over names of candidates. Credible sources in the party revealed that after joining of Ajat Shatru Singh in the party, fight over Nagrota seat has further intensified because son of Dr Karan Singh is also a strong contender for the Nagrota seat where he remained MLA from 1996. State president of BJP and Member Parliament Jugal Kishore Sharma is trying his best to get mandate for his younger brother Nand Kishore Sharma for Nagrota seat. Another group in the BJP has forwarded the name of Chander Mohan Sharma. Supporters of Jugal Kishore Sharma have made it clear to the high command that only a local candidate can defeat Devender Singh Rana on this seat. Insiders in the BJP disclosed that a group in the Central BJP is supporting Dr Nirmal Singh for Billawar Assembly segment but another group is opposing Singh. This group has floated the idea that a local namely Satish Sharma should be made candidate to give tough fight to sitting Congress MLA and Minister Dr Manohar Lal. Same is the situation on Gandhi Nagar Assembly segment where BJP is divided over selecting a candidate to take on heavyweight Congress Minister, Raman Bhalla. Once a close confidant of Raman Bhalla, Manmohan Choudhary, has made the fight in BJP interesting after joining the party. With the help of Avinash Rai Khanna, Member Parliament and Incharge J&K, Manmohan Choudhary has strengthened his claim on Gandhi Nagar seat. |
