In Bandipora, Sonia attacks BJP 11/22/2014 12:13:27 AM Addressing another rally held at Bandipora in north Kashmir in support of her party candidate Usman Majeed, Sonia trained her guns at Bharatiya Janta Party and alleged that party was not interested in providing succor to flood hit people of the Valley. "Words and actions of BJP differ in nature as the leaders of the party did not implement on ground what they had promised to people," she alleged. She said that BJP is playing politics over providing relief to flood victims and did not provide what people required at his juncture. "The BJP promised sky but did not follow it up with action. It seems they (BJP) are not interested. Even what the state (government) asked was not given," she said adding that, "Elections are taking place at a time when you have faced a natural disaster. It does not feel good to talk politics (but) the relief and rehabilitation work is going on at a very slow pace." Sonia while comparing the rule of UPA to present BJP regime said that when UPA was at the helm of affairs, it did everything for Kashmir. "When earthquake hit Valley, we (UPA) did everything to relieve people from the trauma and miseries," she said adding that during UPA rule Wullar beautification project was sanctioned and a new air strip and two regional councils were set up. While appreciating the role played by youth in Kashmir during flood furry, Sonia Gandhi said that the youth of Kashmir did whatever was possible.
