Prefers Jugal's brother over Ajatshatru from Nagrota | BJP dumps its new entrants again! | | Abodh Sharma Early Times Report Jammu, Nov 21: BJP has done it again. This time, it dumped Ajatshatru Singh who was expecting party mandate from Nagrota Assembly constituency after he embraced saffron in New Delhi, severing his long standing ties with National Conference. The party finally announced mandate in favour of Jugal Kishore Sharma's brother Kamal Kishor Sharma today. This is not the first time that BJP has embarrassed its new entrants many of whom had severed their previous affiliations hoping to get the mandate and ride to State Assembly on Modi's buoy. Ajatshatru Singh has joined the list that includes Manmohan Choudhary, the former Congress Mayor of Jammu Municipal Corporation who many expected would be fielded against Raman Bhalla, sitting Minister and MLA Gandhinagar; but after maintaining suspense over mandate for long, party decided in favour of old horse Kavinder Gupta. Announcement of Kavinder's name demoralized not only Manmohan Singh, but also eminent lawyer Sunil Sethi, who had joined National Conference with great pomp and show and had burnt bridges before joining BJP. Sources divulge that Sethi's name for a mandate from Gandhinagar was vigorously pursued by S S Wazir, who had refused an offer from NC to contest. "Wazir, who enjoys close proximity to Mahant Manjit Singh Ji and support of the SGPC was being seen as a strong bet by the NC, but despite prolonged persuasion by NC leadership, Wazir refused, but he used his position to get BJP mandate for Sunil Sethi," said a source in NC. Sources also disclose that Sethi was also backed by senior BJP leader and Union Minister Arun Jaitley. Insiders meanwhile believe that both Sunil Sethi and Manmohan Choudhary could have been better prepositions than Kavinder Gupta to take on Raman Bhalla. |
