PEACE demands relief, compensation to flood victims | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 28: People's Education and Association for Cultural and Equality (PEACE) distributed relief material among the victims of flood in the State. Relief material including blankets, tarpaulins and sleeping mats were distributed among the affected families of village Katal Battal of Nagrota area. While addressing the gathering on this occasion, Secretary of the organization, Dr. Vireshwar criticized the state as well as Central government for not reaching properly to the affected families in various hilly districts. He said the relief process at-once shattered due to immediate announcement of Assembly Elections in the State. Both the government took U-turn and concentrated to conduct the elections, keeping aside the relief distribution. He said it is quite careless attitude of the Govt, that survivors are still waiting for the dead bodies to be recovered from the debris in Sadal village. Only few days back a dead body recovered by the locals. Organising Secretary of PEACE Shashi Sharma alleged that in Jammu division selective financial assistance was distributed and in Kashmir also people have to face hardships for gathering necessary formalities. She appealed to international and national NGOs to extend their helping hands towards the far flung, inaccessible areas of Jammu division also as there are people who suffered a lot.
