Soz's media gag goes in vain, Salman issues statements | | | Early Times Report srinagar, Jan 28: Despite poll drubbing, the state Congress chief seems not to have learnt the lesson with his son Salman Soz throwing rules to winds by undermining the norms set by none other than his father. After the poll results were out and fragmented verdict was accorded by the people to the political parties in the state, parties censured its men asking them not to issue any statements to the press. The state Congress also took a leap in this regard as on December 29, last year, Congress issued a detailed party handout wherein it mentioned that only the state party chief, Saifuddin Soz is authorized to issue any statement to the press on behalf of the party. The party chief spokesperson, Ravinder Sharma was also authorized to speak occasionally for the party with Soz's approval. "Congress General Secretary and party in-charge J&K, Ambika Soni and Leader of Opposition (Rajya Sabha) Ghulam Nabi Azad will always speak for the party particularly for issues related to J&K as they like," the statement had made clear. Vice President J&K Pradesh Congress Committee, Muhammad Muzaffar Parray at informed that Saifuddin Soz has cautioned party cadres that none other than him should issue any statement to the press on behalf of the party. Even less than a month has passed since the diktat that his son Salman Anees Soz started talking to press, issuing statements and giving opinions. He cared little about the norms set by his father to his party men in J&K. Or perhaps he is a son and everything could be a legitimate entity within the family of the Congress, known for its dynastic approach since decades. Salman Soz on January 26, this year while commenting over his party's decision of entering an alliance with NC for RS seats was quoted by a local daily , saying that the party was on a wait and watch mode regarding the polls "I am not aware of any possible talks going on with the NC. Our party is analyzing the situation and considering all possible scenarios," Salman Soz quoted by the news report published in one of the news daily here had said. As other Congress men in the state including the veterans were earlier castigated by Soz for issuing statements to press , such open violation of orders by his own son has perturbed several party leaders. Our chief must set his own house in order first and then only should censure others, says one of the Congress leaders while wishing not to be named. He added that the Congress party is witnessing turbulent times only because of Soz and his approach of partiality and nepotism. Seconding each other's views, the Congress leaders said that during the issuance of the party tickets also, Soz adopted bias approach and out rightly downplayed the works rendered by the party leaders in the past. "He issued mandates to his own men due to which Congress turned weak in several areas wherein it was expected to do much better," Congress activists told early times. Congress received a major setback during the assembly elections, held recently with the party losing from such turfs which were controlled by the sitting ministers and senior leaders. The lobbyism within this party, which is famous over turning its head towards high command always, is also marring its image every day after in Jammu and Kashmir. |
