SRINAGAR, Jan 28: Students of Kashmir valley who are receiving coaching for the new classes have been left undone since the coaching centres have gone on the strike against the frequent raids by the authorities. Whether it is the highhandedness of the authorities or the reluctance of the coaching centres, one thing is sure that it is the students who have been left to suffer. Office bearers of Coaching Centres Association of Kashmir have alleged that authorities have resorted to harassing tactics, who frequently enter the coaching centres and make undue hue and cry. The management of these coaching centres says that it happened in the past as well, but during the current session, limits have been crossed. "Coaching centres have improved quite a lot and they are trying their level best to provide facilities to the students under the guidelines as laid down by the High Court of Jammu and Kashmir. We have got the spacious lecture halls, with all the requirements, both for the hot and the cold seasons," said Tasaduq Ali (name changed) a teacher at a coaching centre at Parraypora. We take Rs. 6,000 per subject from students that the authorities say is too much and are asking for 10.5 percent as the service tax, said Tasaduq. He said the authorities have failed to understand that coaching centres across the Kashmir valley more so operating in Parraypora give heavy discount on fee to the poor students. Lateef Masoodi, Spokesman Coaching Centres Association of Kashmir said that the coaching centres provide free education to the 10 percent students, mainly comprising of orphans, besides giving a huge concession to poor ones as a token of social services. The management of the coaching centres of the valley says that the harassment reports don't from the other parts of the state where, as according to them, the rates are higher than what is charged in the valley. Shahnawaz, a student while talking to Early Times said that he is thankful to the management of the coaching centre as they did not anything from him in lieu of the coaching provided to him. |
