Obsolete content on LA's official website continues to surprise people | Omar continues to be the CM, losers the winners | | Early Times Report srinagar, Jan 28: Omar Abdullah continues to remain chief minister of the state on the official website of the legislative assembly here. There are people who even have lost the state elections of the 2014 but are in the list of MLAs on the website. Despite hefty amounts out of the state exchequer being spent on National Informatics Centre (NIC) in Jammu and Kashmir for the maintenance of the state official websites , such a non-serious approach by the officials only disclose the erratic system of governance in the state. Official Website of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly namely jklegislativeassembly.nic.in has one page on which there is Constituency-wise List of Honorable Members of J&K Legislative Assembly. On serial 4 it is Saifullah, Shri Mir, which the webpage claims to be the MLA from Kupwara Kashmir. Mir during the state elections of 2014 lost his seat to Peoples' Conference's candidate but the helmsmen of the website perhaps are little aware about the poll results. On Serial number 6, it is Choudary Mohammad Ramzan whom the website claims to be the MLA Handwara. Ramzan also has lost his seat on December 23 to Sajad Lone. On Serial number 8 is Taj- Mohi-ud-din. In a similar fashion, there are scores of other former MLAs who have lost during 2014 elections but continue to remain legislators for the official website of our legislative assembly. On another page of this website, titled 'Leader of the House', the portrait size picture of Omar Abdullah smiles when surfs though it. The page provides details of Omar Abdullah like he was born in Rochford, Essex (U.K). Other details of Omar Abdullah include that his academic qualification in B.Com, Marital Status is Married. One more bizarre component being revealed by the website is that Omar belongs to the constituency of Ganderbal. Jammu and Kashmir on January 9, this year came under Governor's rule after President Pranab Mukherjee approved the move mooted by Governor N N Vohra following sudden decision of caretaker Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to step down. As there was no alternative government on the horizon and with Omar insisting on his resignation, the Governor had sent his report recommending the Governor's rule to President of India. After receiving concurrence from the President of India, a communiqué of the Raj Bhavan said that the Governor issued a proclamation under Section 92(1) of the Constitution of Jammu and Kashmir to impose Governor's rule in the state. Vohra's report was also seen by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Rajnath Singh and the law ministry before it was approved by the President. The obsolete content could also be seen on the official website of the legislative council. On this webpage, Ajay Kumar Sadhotra is the leader of the house. Despite the governor's rule and term of the assembly ending on January 19, this year, the obsolete content is exhibiting nothing but the traces of the mis-governance though which the state has passed in the past. Interestingly, on the bottom spread of the official website of our legislative assembly and council, it reads, "Contents on this website provided and maintained by Legislative Assembly, Jammu and Kashmir. Designed & Developed by NIC, Jammu & Kashmir." |
