Official vehicle spots blue siren, temp number plate | DC or King of Kishtwar? | | Asif Iqbal Naik Early Times Report Kishtwar, Jan 28: Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar seems to have declared himself as the "uncrowned king" of the district as his official vehicle plies without official registration and spots a blue siren, which was banned by the government after Supreme Court directions. Following the Apex court directions all the chief ministers, ministers, top police officials and others had removed the siren lights from their vehicles, but the "king of Kishtwar" seems least bothered about the Apex court directions and other rules. The official vehicle of Deputy Commissioner Kishtwar"Tata Safari" commercial vehicle bearing temporary registration No. JMU AW-2234 had to be registered on or before 17-12-2014, but even after the lapse of more than one month, the "VIP vehicle" plies without registration number plate, in violation of rules. The vehicle was hired from a private party. According to the Motor Vehicle Act all the commercial vehicles are required to avail the registration number on or before the expiry date of temporary registration number, while at the same time the Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) is at liberty to challan or seize the vehicle. After expiry of the date of temporary registration number, the Motor vehicle department charges late fee for issuance of registration number plate. Local transporters while talking to "Early times" said that MVD , Traffic Police as well as civil police adopt different yard sticks while dealing with these types of cases. "All the three agencies leave no stone unturned to harass the transporters on one or other pretext while the high profile personalities like DC Kishtwar are not bound to follow any rules," they added. In another violation of rules and regulation, DC Kishtwar uses blue siren on his vehicle which was banned along with red light by the government after Supreme Court of India directions. As per the guide lines, only ambulances and emergency services are entitled for blue light sirens. Pertinently, after Supreme Court of India issued the directions, Chief Ministers, Ministers, top rank police and bureaucrats all over the country removed the colored siren from their official vehicles. Even the former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah also removed the red light from his official vehicle. |
