NABCONS organizes training programme 1/28/2015 10:46:03 PM Early Times Report Jammu, Jan 28: Training program on Commodity trading was today organized by NABCONS, a unit of NABARD here at Pouni. According to press release, attendants included Aarshi Sharma DDM, NABARD Reasi, Dr Haroon Tech Officer Animal Husbandry Reasi, Veer Pratap JKEDI, Choudhary Tehsildar Pouni, Sarpanch and members of cooperative society. Sharma started with issues faced by Indian agriculture. Main problems faced by famers are low price realization, market uncertainties and climate variation. Benefit of futures and derivatives is that marginal farmers are brought together and farmers can minimize their risk by hedging price or volume. Exchanges also offer storage facility to sell forward. Also ware house finance can be availed against receipts. Later she added that under Dairy Entrepreneurship Development program, individuals can avail loan and get back ended subsidy. Also need for Women's financial security was urged. For that, women should form Self Help Groups and start some economic activity to earn livelihood. Dr Haroon spoke about animal diseases and artificial insemination of cattle.
