Mankotia demands reduction in passengers' fare | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 28: Amid great resentment brewing amongst the people Balwant Singh Mankotia today demanded immediate reduction in transport and passanger fares so that the prompt relief is provided to the common men. Addressing media persons, Mankotia disclosed that the GoI has failed miserably in revising the passanger fares and transport charges in consonance with the steep decline in the international rates of the petroleum products. He said that the government is making the mockery by harping on the reduced oil prices and trying to take undue credit but on the ground reality no benefit has been percolated to the general masses as the passenger and the transport fares remain unabated. Mankotia revealed that the Union Govt has levied huge excise duty on the petroleum products despite of heavy decline in the oil prices in the global market. Singh exhorted the GoI to slash the excise duty and also the passenger fares so that the immediate succor is provided to the common people. He said that the anger among the people and keeping this in view NPP shall resort to indefinite protests on the streets if this issue of burden is not resolved. |
