Pak firing victims ask for compensation | Some still in hospital | | Early Times Report Hiranagar, Jan 28: Hundreds of border villagers have asked for compensation whose assets were destroyed in recent cross border shelling from Pakistan rangers. A few of them are still in hospital but no compensation has been given to them so far. A mortar fell in the premises of Shoba Devi, a resident of Chann Lal Din whose four families members were badly injured even one of them succumbed to injury and her sister-in-law has been fighting for for recovery in hospital. She appealed to the Governor to provide relief and other facilities to the family. She informed that her injured son left the house and lived with his aunt in safe place as terror of cross border shelling keeps place in his mind. She said politicians and officers from local administration ensured them to compensate for their losses that can provide some respite to the family from sufferings but nothing has been done till day. She said villagers collected funds for their family but government has still not provided any type of facility to the family. Shoba said her husband works as labourer so it's difficult for the family to spend huge amount in the treatment of injured members. She sought help from the administration with immediate effect. She said government gave Rs 5,000 to her family as relief on the injury of 3 members and death of her sister-in-law which was according to her a joke with them but huge amount was given to injured hailing from Samba. Surjit Singh, a villager, said no help has been offered by state or the central government to the villagers in fact Rs. 50,000 rupees have been paid to all injured hailing from Samba district. He said people live under terror that makes difficult for them to survive in parental villages. He appealed Union government and Governor to provide lands in safe place so as villagers can move their families during emergency. |
