Early Times Report
Srinagar, Jan 31: A day after Early Times carried a report about obsolete content on the official website of the Legislative Assembly, the government finally woke up and deleted the wrong information. The pages depicting Omar as chief minister and Mubarak Gull as speaker have been deleted with the text uploaded reading 'The page is under updation'. There are now no details of the chief minister, speaker and MLAs available. Early Times on January 28 had published a detail report on its front page titled 'Obsolete content on LA official website continues to surprise people'. The Website of Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly namely jklegislative assembly .nic.inhad one page on which there was Constituency-wise List of Members of J&K Legislative Assembly. On serial 4 it was Saifullah, Shri Mir, which the webpage claimed to be the MLA from Kupwara Kashmir. Mir during the state elections of 2014 lost his seat to Peoples' Conference's candidate but the helmsmen of the website were little aware about the poll results. On Serial number 6, it was Choudary Mohammad Ramzan whom the website had claimed to be the MLA Handwara. Ramzan also lost his seat on December 23 to Sajad Lone. On Serial number 8 was Taj- Mohi-ud-din. In a similar fashion, there were scores of other former MLAs who lost during 2014 elections but continued to remain legislators for the official website of our legislative assembly. On another page of this website, titled 'Leader of the House', a portrait size picture of Omar Abdullah would greet the surfers. The page provided details of Omar Abdullah like he was born in Rochford, Essex (U.K). Other details of Omar Abdullah included that his academic qualification was B.Com, Marital Status was Married. One more bizarre component that was revealed by the website was that Omar belongs to the constituency of Ganderbal. Another significant page of the website was named 'Speaker of Legislative Assembly'. The Picture of Mubarak Gul was displayed along with his information like his date of birth, parentage, qualification etc. Merely days after Early Times broke the story, the state authorities became aware about the gross blunders that were committing in terms of proving information to the masses via web world. The website that was developed and managed by the NIC, JK deleted the wrong information and eagerly wait for the new government to take over so that they could upload the 'very fresh content'. At present, there are only the bills and legislations of the past that are visible on the website, rest it all says that he site is undergoing updation. We hope that such blunders are not committed in future, particularly inside the institution that have claim of being the democratic houses of the state of Jammu and Kashmir. Jammu and Kashmir on January 9, this year came under Governor's rule after President Pranab Mukherjee approved the move mooted by Governor N N Vohra following sudden decision of caretaker Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to step down. |
