Full CM tenure non-negotiable: PDP | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Jan 31: The PDP has ruled out proposal for rotational Chief Minister proposed by the BJP. The party has said the full Chief Ministerial tenure for the party is non-negotiable. It has delayed the government formation for some time. The PDP conveyed this stand of the party to the central BJP leadership, which is holding deliberation with the party. The PDP leadership has said this is one of the requirement and condition which the BJP has agreed to. "Rotational CM proposal will go against the party. It will be exploited as PDP begging for the CM post even for the three year and has kneeled down before the Saffron party, which is still an anathema in the valley. The party can't risk its political future to be in power for just three-year. It's not for which we have been on the streets for at least three-year," said a senior PDP leader, wishing not to be named. The BJP was initially reluctant to accept this proposal. It tried hard to bargain on it. This also delayed government formation. However, sources said the BJP has agreed to the logic and political sensibilities of the PDP, which could be its possible alliance partner in the next Assembly. "PDP has told the BJP while it (BJP) has political base, which is also growing, across the country, it (PDP) has its base as of now limited even just to Kashmir valley. Even if this place is taken out but the insistence of rotational CM, than it could do more damage to the Indian interests than the party only," said a PDP leader. This explanation, sources said, has made BJP going soft on this proposal and is now trying to re-draw the CMP so as to put itself before the Jammu people in a dignified manner on its promises. The PDP had given more than enough hints on its insistence on this issue. Party president Mehbooba Mufti had even said that party has other options also opened. |
