MIER organizes awareness program 2/6/2015 9:51:45 PM Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 6: An awareness program was organized by the Extension Activity Unit of MIER College of Education at West Colony, near Railway Station, Jammu. The theme of the program was gender discrimination and low cost nutrition food. A group of about 17 members of Extension Unit along with the incharge Suman Devi visited the slum area. Suman Devi discussed the causes and effects of discriminatory attitude of the society towards men and women on the basis of gender. She further highlighted discrimination at different levels like at workplace, deliberate killing of newborn female children and the termination of a female fetus through selective abortion. The unit incharge also delivered a lecture on "Low cost nutrition food" and oriented them about different low cost nutritional food which they could include in their healthy meal plan. Students displayed charts, slogans and pictures showcasing different low cost nutrition food.
