Nitesh Sangral Early Times Report Jammu, Feb 6: Amidst strike called by the junior doctors, Causality Medical Officer (CMO) of Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH)'s emergency wing left the patients in lurch during duty hours and preferred having coffee with a local MLA to seek his blessings. Pertinently, the junior doctors are on strike seeking registration of FIR against miscreants, who allegedly manhandled their colleagues. Due to the strike called by the junior doctors at least two patients had died till late evening and hundreds are suffering due to non-availability of senior doctors, who were asked to manage till the issue is sorted out. Sources told Early Times that after junior doctors went on strike, the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) asked senior doctors to treat patients but unfortunately, many senior doctors have left the patients to fend for themselves and have ignored the directions. The on duty CMO Dr Sanjeev Parihar went missing from his cabin during duty hours for more than an hour today resulting in total chaos in the hospital. "Later, he was seen enjoying coffee with his seniors as well as MLA from Jammu at Coffee House," said a source. When contacted the CMO Dr Sanjeev Parihar denied that he had left the hospital during duty hours. On being told that Early Times is in possession of the pictures of his vacant chair, Dr Parihar replied: "Fine if you have the pictures disconnect the call." When contacted Deputy Medical Superintendent of GMCH Dr Wasiq Rashool failed to give a satisfactory answer, saying, "I believe senior doctors are performing their duties in respective wards." When asked about the CMO missing from his cabin, he said, "I don't know. I will ask the doctors who were on duty.” |
