Early Times Report JAMMU, Feb 6: As part of spring series of woodland walks and tree talks initiated by senior forest officer and Dogri Sahitya Akademi awardee Om Prakash Vidyarthi, the 322nd Tree Talk was today hosted for BAMS students at Jammu Institute of Ayurveda and Research (JIAR) Nardani Raipur. Speaking on the occasion O P Sharma shared that sacred tree groves around religious places and sacred shrines like Shahdra shrief, Vaishno Devi, Mansar, Kheer bhawani, Zithiyar temple, Chandigam asthan , Ballo da baag Mathwar and various religious places that symbols of community conserved areas and adore natural heritage. He also mentioned that United Nations has declared year 2015 as International Year of Soils and Communities in a bid to revive soil conserving and fertility enhancing age old practices like crop rotation, organic farming and use of fruits vegetables- as a manner of natural healing in the interest of green economy and health benefits. Earlier Principal of Institute of Ayurveda Dr B K Mohanta while applauding native tree nomenclature shared that synonyms of plant drugs originated in Samhita period ,Sanskrit, Hindi and other Indian languages names are based on plant appearance. He also said that plants derived names from legendary names as mentioned in epic and many have scientific names having their origin in ancient languages like Arabic, Persian, Greek, Tamil. Speaking on this occasion Dr Rajesh Sharma also spoke on the significance of plants and trees in medicacre especially in Ayurveda. Dr P K Kaul, Dinesh Gupta ,Zia ul Khan , Rohit , Neha , Megha Khajuria , Rekha Jain also spoke on this occasion. |
