305 packets of drugs seized from goods truck from PoK | | | Early Times Report BARAMULLA, Feb 6: Authorities on Friday recovered nearly 305 packets of suspected contraband substance from an orange- laden truck coming from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) on Srinagar - Muzaffarabad Road at Trade Facilitation Center Salamabad in Uri Town of Baramulla district. According to sources that, "The security officials during routine checking of goods imported from Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK) at Salamabad Trade Facilitation Centre in Uri stumbled upon few packets suspected to be Brown Sugar in a box of oranges in one of the vehicles, which was coming from other side of Line Of Control (Loc). Sources on anonymity condition told early times that," the consignment was coming from Mushtaq Mir of Mir Trading Company Muzaffarabad Pakistan which was meant for Zahoor Ahmad Malla S/O Bashir Ahmad Malla of Mohalla Mir Sahib Baramulla, RR Trading Company. "During detailed scrutiny of other boxes, we found four to five packets of about 10 grams each in every orange box, sources informed. Sources said that, "The 22 vehicles which came from PoK today have been seized and will be thoroughly checked. "We are still carrying out the checking of the vehicles. "The contraband substance of 305 pockets were recovered from the Pakistani Truck no P-9687 and the driver Syed Innaiyat Hussain Shah S/O Syed Bagh Hussain Shah of Kachbagh Muzaffarabad Pakistan was arrested and Police has started an investigation into the smuggling of Narcotics, said sources. A senior government official told early times that, "We have seized a truck and recovered some contraband substances from a truck no P-9687, we have send the material to the Forensic Sciences Laboratory to check the nature of the substance." However we have arrested both Syed Innayat Shah of Pakistan and Zahoor Ahmad Malla for which the consignment was meant, and perhaps it would be premature to said anything whether the substance was drugs or not. We are questioning the driver and will reach to the solid conclusion" official added. It is pertinent to mention here that, In January last year, the authorities had seized drugs worth nearly Rs 100 crore from a truck coming from PoK, which led to brief suspension of cross-Line of Control trade after police arrested the Pakistani driver of the vehicle. In August 2013, police recovered cocaine worth Rs 10 crore from a truck, plying on Srinagar-Muzaffarabad route, at Sheeri in Uri sector. |
