NHAI to charge user fee on Jammu-Lakhanpur and Jammu-Udhampur route | Road journey gets dearer | | G S Asgotra

Jammu, Feb 13: The journey on Jammu-Lakhanpur and Jammu-Udhampur highway is likely to become costly from Monday as the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has decided to charge user fee from the third week of February at two different toll plazas; one at temporary toll plaza of Thandikhui on Jammu-Lakhanpur route and the other at Ban on Jammu-Udhampur stretch. According to a new notification of Ministry of Road Transport and Highway, user fee would be levied from all users. For a car, Jeep Van or LMV, the single journey from Jammu to Udhampur would cost Rs. 85 while on Jammu-Lakhanpur route would be Rs. 55. For LCV, LGV or Mini Buses, single journey to Udhampur will cost Rs. 135 and return journey within 24 hours would be Rs. 200 as user fee while for Jammu to Lakhanpur, user fee would be Rs. 90 as single journey and Rs. 135 for return journey. The user fee for buses or truck (2 Axels) would be Rs. 280 for single journey and Rs. 420 for return journey on Jammu-Udhampur route, while on Jammu-Lakhanpur it would be Rs. 190 for single journey and Rs. 285 for return journey. The user fee for three axis commercial vehicle would be Rs. 305 and Rs. 455 for single and return journey on Jammu-Udhampur route respectively, while Rs. 210 and Rs. 315 on Jammu-Lakhanpur route. HCM/EME/MAV (4 to 6 Axises), vehicles would be charged Rs. 440 for single and 655 for return journey also on Jammu-Udhampur route, while Rs. 300 and Rs. 450 on Jammu-Lakhanpur route. The user fee for oversized vehicles (7 or more axies) would be Rs. 535 for single and Rs. 800 for return journey for Jammu Udhampur route while Rs. 365 and Rs. 550 for single and return journey respectively, within twenty four hours on Jammu-Lakhanpur route. Sources said that the NH Authority had mooted the proposal of levying user fee on various routes in last few years but same could not be done due to strong opposition from the masses, but now the state government was not in place, so the NH Authority has revisited the decision. |
