Arjumman Mughal creates ripples in Bollywood | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 9: Jammu girl Arjumman Mughal comes home. Once upon a time this girl had a dream of a glittering world, dream of glory, dream of Bollywood. And she had the courage and determination to follow them and make them a reality. A native of Nowshera town, near Line of Control (Lamberi Dera), Mughal was born on 1 January 1990. Her father, Mohd Isahaq Mughal, is an ex army officer, while her mother Asiya Mughal, is a home maker. Mughal completed her schooling in Nowshera and and then moved to Delhi and after Mumbai to pursue a modeling career and also completed her Graduation at Mumbai. At the age of 14, she started her career into modeling representing various ad films. She disclosed that after getting training from Anupam Kher's Actor Prepare's school, made her acting debut with Hasnain Hyderabadwala's bollywood film Ya Rab. Arjumman is currently in Jammu to meet relatives at her native town Lamberi Dera.. Mughal is excited about her next movie, 'Tera Kya Hoga Lambodar', in which she plays a superstar role. While her co-star Pawan Malhotra essays the role of a director, Sanjeev Tiwari plays an actor. 'One of he song of film will be shot in Kashmir and film will release in the month of May,'' disclosed Arjumman. Another film Soutan part-2 is in pipeline and maximum shooting is completed some songs are balance. While pursuing her schooling, she was selected as child model for clothing brand and then she did over 2000 ads followed with multiple theater acts at teen level. She is very excited that a prolific painter like Prithvi Soni has chosen her over various actresses from Bollywood, to be painted as his 'peacock woman'. We catch up with her for an interview. How does it feel to be in your hometown? Jammu has been in my heart ever since I was born. I can be in any part of the world, but I will always be a Jammu girl. Tell us more about your first film 'Ya Rab'? 'Ya Rab' was been highly praised for its sheer audacity to show how the religion of Islam has been used by some unscrupulous elements, as a tool to propagate violence and terrorism. Inspite of moderate success at the box-office, the film received rave reviews for focusing on a very delicate issue about a few self-proclaimed Maulanas (Islamic preachers) misinterpreting The Quran and its real meaning. The film almost echoed the words US President Barack Obama said last month: "We are not at war with Islam. We are at war with people who have perverted Islam." What was your character in the movie? I played the character of Amreen who is related to a scheming and corrupt Maulana. I play a pregnant girl who is the only witness to a bombing. Being a Muslim, was it difficult to accept the role? After I read the script, I was convinced that the film would have a positive influence. It was a sensitive movie, and with a very strong message. The film's tagline was 'Jihad against terrorism'. It was endorsed and released by Mahesh Bhatt, and I am proud to say that the film industry, audiences and critics hailed as a genuine effort to showcase the correct face of Islam and help bring misguided youth back to the right path. We hear you even received two unique awards for your performance. Yes, I received the 'Shaurya Award for Bravery and Excellence' and the 'Humlog Award'. In real life, are you as balanced as your character in the movie? Quite a lot. I would always urge people to put an end to violent acts in the name of religion. See, Indians are an example of unity in diversity from ages now. And this is the time to put a complete end to all kinds of discrimination and violence in the name of religion. India is the perfect country to take this initiative and be a glowing example for the world to follow. We also hear that you are going to be painted by the well-known painter Prithvi Soni. Is that true? Yes, I am very excited that a prolific painter like Prithvi Soni has chosen me over various actresses from Bollywood, to be painted as his 'peacock woman'. When he first met me, he told me that around the time my film released, he chanced upon my pictures and collected paper cuttings of some of my articles in the media. He said, he was very impressed with my beauty. A painter saying that for me is all the more flattering. When he finally met me, he immediately decided that he wanted to paint me as a peacock woman. We can understand your excitement. Yes. Not many know that when I was small, I wanted to become a painter once. And I even tried to paint a peacock, as it is our national bird. But I was pathetic at painting. Ha ha. And I wouldn't have imagined then, that one day I would be painted as a 'peacock woman' by one of the best painters in our country. I'm really fortunate to be chosen by Mr Soni. Where do you go from here? Any more movies in the pipeline? I am shooting for my next film with director Pradeep Goinsikar. It is titled 'Tera Kya Hoga Lambodar'. I play a superstar in it, while my co-star Pawan Malhotra essays the role of a director. |
