Embarrassed over Masarat's release, BJP workers question party's negotiators | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Mar 9: Though BJP is claiming that release of separatists was not the part of Common Minimum Programme (CMP) and Chief Minister has taken a unilateral decision, opposition parties Congress and NC are questioning BJP over the deal made with PDP to form coalition government in the state. Congress president G A Mir has already taken the BJP leadership including Prime Minister, Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh to task on the release of separatist leader Masrat Aalam from the jail who was the mastermind of 2010 unrest in Kashmir. Mir said the BJP should tell the nation what was the hidden agenda of the two parties on which they reached an understanding of Government formation in the State. Same were the views of NC leadership also who questioned the release of Masarat Aalam. Meanwhile, a nine member Party MLAs delegation led by MLA Kathua and Party general secretary Rajiv Jasrotia called on Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammed Sayeed and submitted a memorandum demanding re-arrest of Masarat Aalam. However according to sources there is also resentment within BJP over the issue and some partymen have accused the negotiators of sell out. A common BJP worker feels it difficult to face public on the issue and explain Party position over it, sources added. Sources said that BJP State leaders while expressing their resentment over the release of separatist leader said it is very difficult for them to face people over the issue as there is a lot of resentment among the masses. Party activists said the two leaders who were engaged in negotiations with PDP have failed to bargain and sold the Party interests. One of the senior Party leaders who was engaged in negotiations with PDP left for abroad soon after the formation of Government, sources said, while another has maintained a stoic silence over the issue. This way a common party worker has been left to face the public wrath while the negotiators failed to keep the Party as well as national interest in vie, sources added. |
