Thusoo 'looted' state exchequer to pay airfares | | | K Koushal Early Times Report Jammu, Mar 9: Dilip Thusoo during his tenure as Managing Director, Jammu and Kashmir Project Construction Corporation Ltd. (JKPCC), Managing Director, Jammu and Kashmir Housing Board and Secretary Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council allegedly misused Public exchequer for his private/personal affairs, a RTI has revealed. A reply to RTI reveals Dilip Thusoo during his tenure as GM/MD in JKPCC, with effect from 10-05-2007 to 07-05-2009 withdrew exorbitant airfare of Rs 3, 62, 244 against his frequent air journeys for domestic/private affairs. Thusoo had drawn Rs 1, 30, 265 for various tours within the state and Rs 2, 31, 979 for his tours outside the state. In reply to another RTI, on more shocking revelation has come to fore that while working as Managing Director in Jammu and Kashmir Housing Board for two years i.e. since 14/05/2010 to 16/05/2012, Thusoo paid 16 to and fro visits to Delhi and different parts outside JK costing Rs 1, 63, 502 to J&K Housing Board. The RTI reveals that Dilip Thusoo, Secretary Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council had drawn Rs 6, 86, 733 from 17/11/2012 to 25/03/2014. In 16 months, Thusoo visited Delhi for 38 times and returned to Jammu and Srinagar on the expenditure borne by the department. It is in place to mention here that Dilip Thusoo lives in New Delhi and almost every week he takes a flight to visit Delhi from Jammu or Srinagar the expense for which is incurred by the department. Only to visit home, Thusoo has wrongly carried out his duties by keeping the interest of departments in which he worked at stake. The said officer is facing serious corruption charges. The fact of the matter is that after these all shocking allegations against the corrupt officer during his tenure, no action was taken against him till now. Transparency International in its report has categorically mentioned that Jammu and Kashmir is 2nd most corrupt state in India followed Bihar which retains its top position. People like Dilip Thusoo must be given credit if J&K snatches the top most position. It is pertinent to mention here that J&K depends on central government assistance to give away even salaries to its employees and J&K is not in the situation to keep these officials as they are making the state bankrupt by their corrupt practices. Corrupt practices carried out by Dilip Thusoo have been brought in public domain by Early Times with a sense of responsibility towards society. Thusoo since 10-05-2007 to 25-03-2014 has wasted Tax Payers money worth Rs 12, 12, 479 only for his own personal works which is a great matter of concern for the state which looks at central government's face for the disposal of its necessities. Thusoo has set an ample example how to make J&K top most corrupt state in India. Several serious questions are also raised on Government that how an unprofessional person who has no background of sports and games was appointed Secretary of State Sports Council? Condition of sports activities in the state is evident to all as state's sportspersons don't stand anywhere and the credit should be given to officials like Thusoo. Thusoo as Secretary of the State Sports Council was reportedly absent during working days when he visited his house which is located in New Delhi. It is astonishing to note that command of state's sports council was handed over to a person who was facing several corruption charges during his tenure in JKPCC and J&K Housing Board. Thusoo was given many important positions but he continued to fill his own pockets. The above revelations have shown that how much Thusoo was committed towards his duties. He left no stone unturned to deceive the tax payers. When contacted Dilip Thusoo said that I used to go Delhi just to attend the official meetings. |
