Jammu, Mar 9: Vice Chancellor of University of Jammu (JU), Prof RD Sharma complimented the university fencing team for excelling in the recently held All India Inter-University Fencing Championship at Punjabi University Patiala in Punjab. The men team secured a bronze medal in Epee event. In all, 69 universities of the country took part in this championship held under the banner of Association of Indian Universities (AIU). Prof Sharma interacted with the fencers and their coach, Sub-Inspector, Rashid Choudhary amidst appreciation of Director Sports and Physical Education, Prof Dhian Singh Bhau for the support and encouragement. He appreciated the players for retaining the first place at all India level for three consecutive years in the past. The Epee team was comprised of Veer Sangram Singh, Pankaj Sharma, Abhinav Pandotra and Mohit Sharma. Javed Ahmed Choudhary won bronze medal in Sibre individual event. Among others present were PD Singh Bhisham Singh and Akhilesh Sharma. |
