Jammu, Mar 9: Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) shall be playing against Indian Air Force (IAF) in the inaugural match of the IV All India Police Martyrs' Memorial Hockey Tournament hosted by J&K Police at K K Hakhu Stadium, here tomorrow. The opening match shall take place at 11 am soon after the inauguration of the mega event at the same venue at 10 am. In all, 12 teams are taking part in this tournament on knock out basis. On getting bye, four teams of Border Security Force (BSF), Punjab and Sindh Bank, J&K Police and Punjab Police have directly been placed in the second round of quarterfinals, considering their earlier standings. Other participating teams are J&K XI, Namdhari XI, Dogra XI, New Gurdaspur Club, Core of Signals and Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). Earlier, the participating teams, already reported to the organisers , had practice sessions this morning while the staff of the State Sports Council and J&K Police were busy giving final touch to the preparations on ground. Since the event is being hosted by the J&K Police, the security within the stadium and in its vicinity has been strengthened further, especially for the opening function tomorrow. A host of senior police officers as also those retired are have been invited to witness the opening match. |
