Work on 1000 MW Kishtwar power project to begin in April | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Mar 09: Chenab Valley Power Projects Pvt Ltd. (CVPPL), a Joint Venture of company floated by Jammu & Kashmir State Power Development Corporation Ltd (JKSPDC), National Hydro Power Corporation (NHPC) and Power Trading Corporation (PTC), is finally in the process of starting work on the execution of the 1000MW hydro-electric project in the Kishtwar District in the state. Nain Singh, Managing Director, CVPPL said, "The work on the project is moving in the right direction and could start as early as April 2015. The 1,000 MW power project is expected to create local employment, apart from boosting local infrastructure and tourism and lead to overall development to the villages in the state a whole."The newly sworn PDP-BJP government is extremely proactive and keen to start work on the project on a war-footing basis to benefit the people of state.Drangdhuran Consortium which emerged as the lowest bidder for the project has quoted around Rs 350 crore lower compared to the second lowest bid for this prestigious contract. The consortium partners consists of BHEL a state-owned heavy engineering firm which has commissioned 1,38,000 MWs of installed capacity i.e. 57 percent of India's total installed capacity. Other consortium partner include Turkish giant, Limak Construction which is the largest in dam construction and Patel Engineering which is the pioneers of tunnelling in India having executed more than 180 Kms of tunneling and 80 Dams worldwide since 1949.CVPPL have taken immense pain by inviting international competitive bids and the screening and shortlisting of all the bidders and consortium partners for their credibility, experience and financial standing, stringently making sure that none have either been debarred or blacklisted during the tendering process. Thus credibility of these agencies in association with the developer leave no doubt on the sure shot success of this project. Expect Mumbai-based Patel Engineering, several Indian construction companies have reeling under financial stress. Other bidders for the project including Coastal Project, Soma Enterprises, Gammon India have gone under financial stress and have been referred to the Corporate Debt Restructuring cells. Thus giving a sense of confidence on the financial strength of the consortium to developer Though there have been attempts from some quarters with vested interest to malign the image of CVPPL and other involved with this key project. Sources within CVPPL said that that the new state government and CVPPL are focused on making Pakaldul dream a reality for every J&K citizen. |
