BJP, PDP truce to ensure speedy development of JK | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Mar 9 : Realizing that it has no scope for forging an alliance with the Congress, which will not allow the PDP to gain even simple majority in the Assembly, the PDP leadership is said to have opted for truce with its alliance, the BJP. Reports said that even the BJP leadership in the centre has decided to give another chance to Mufti Mohammad Sayeed for ensuring life for the ruling coalition after the PDP leadership conveyed to New Delhi that release of Masrat Alam was part of the reconciliation measures aimed at building peace. This process of reconciliation was part of the Common Minimum Programme. According to these reports, the BJP leadership in New Delhi has conveyed to its state unit party leaders to stop raking up the issue of release of Masarat Alam and instead devote their energy for initiating suitable measures that could ensure all round development. Well wishers of Mufti Mohammad Sayeed are said to have suggested to him that in case the Chief Minister wanted to make up for the loss of his political weight, following joining hands with the BJP, he should order reduction in power and water tariff. He should suggest to the Finance Minister, Haseeb Drabu, not to impose any fresh taxes on people. They have suggested to the Mufti that in case he wants to refurbish his image he should lay down a new employment package for the unemployed youth and persuade the central Government to invest in the sector of industry in Jammu and Kashmir and motivate other big business houses to set up units in the state which could help the state to resolve the problem of unemployment. Even the BJP leaders believe that if the ruling coalition gets full financial support from the central Government it could promote economic st ability of Jammu and Kashmir with reference to the resolution of energy crisis. The BJP leaders in the state have been told to seek added financial resources for setting up mini and major power projects in Jammu and Kashmir. |
