Katra, Mar 9: After a decade of continuously facing problem of the eroded road to holy town Katra, the people of Katra as well as the yatries travelling by road now can sigh a relieved breathe as the approach road from Nomain to holy town Katra is undergoing renovation after being fully washed away. Reliable sources rue that the approach road from Nomain to Katra is in worst condition from past many years as it did not get renovation since last 7 years. Sources also rue that earlier, the worst condition of the roads made pilgrims as well as locals suffer bumpy journey as it takes more time to reach Katra and the travel is uncomfortable too, owing to the presence of the pits over roads. Sources also said that the people of Katra also have taken up a deputation to the officials of PWD and they have also approached the then MLA , Baldev Raj Sharma many times, but nothing positive was done in this regard. Sources further said that some patches were repaired last year at the time nearing the elections just to seek the voters' attention, but no proper renovation was done for the maintenance of the same road of about 3 kilometres distance only. XEn PWD Katra, T L Thappa when contacted by the Early Times said that earlier the road was under the control of Beacon and they were only liable for the non renovation of the same road. He also said, "PWD have got the control of the road last year, after that the DCR of the road was made and now the tenders have been allotted and the renovation is going on efficiently". He again said that the office have fixed the tenure of one year to complete the whole project of widening as well as reconstruction of the road, but it is expected that it will be completed in 9-10 months. |
