CM's hometown Bijbehara in dark, separate Grid Station demanded

Anantnag, Mar 9: As the weather hostilities continued in valley and various localities of Kashmir received fresh snowfall on Sunday evening which threw the normal life out of gear and most of the areas reeling under darkness including the chief minister's hometown Bijbehara. Reports from area said, in Anantnag, Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Syaeed's hometown Bijbehara along with dozens of villages and district headquarter Anantnag is too reeling under the darkness following the fresh snowfall in valley. Bijbehara residents told 'Early Times' that the town including the Chief Minister's residence and mohallah is reeling under darkness since Sunday evening when valley witnessed fresh snowfall and the concerned department yet hasn't restored electricity to the town.Agitated over power failure, the residents demanded a separate Gird Station in Bijbehara."We request Chief Minister Mufti Mohmmad Sayeed to resolve this problem permanently by creating a Grid Station in the area which can cater all six receiving stations of Bijbehara and Pulwama," locals voiced unanimously. Presently Receiving Stations in Bijbehara viz. Khiram, Sangam and Pangpora; Pulwama's three Receiving Stations namely Checkoot, Pnazgam and Kelan are receiving supply from the Awantipora through a single transmission line which often gets technical snags developed due to one or the other reason. Anantnag town which receives electricity from Grid Station Wanpoh too is partly under dark despite the fact that the Wanpon Grid Station functional. Locals in Anantnag said. In South Kashmir reports said that rural areas of all the four districts-Anantnag, Kulgam, Pulwama and Shopian too are under darkness after the recent snowfall. SE-PDD, when contacted assured that he will ensure 80% restoration till Monday evening.
"I myself is on the spot and will return home until electricity is restored to Anantnag and Bijbehara," he said with a resolve. "Our Awantipora line which we share with sub transmission division Pulwama has got some damages, we are working to rectify the snag and by tomorrow hopefully we will restore the supply," he said while adding, " as an alternative electricity to Bijbehara from Wanpoh Gird station shall be supplied temporarily till tomorrow.
