Srinagar, Apr 4: Four Army jawans were killed and another went missing after an avalanche hit the vehicle they were travelling in, in frontier Ladakh region of Jammu and Kashmir on Friday evening after heavy snowfall in the area.
The avalanche hit the Army vehicle at remote Changla village in Leh which trapped five soldiers who were then travelling in the Vehicle, spokesman of Army's northern command Col S D Goswami said. He said that rescue teams immediately swung into action and recovered bodies of two soldiers while as two others were rescued in a critical who later succumbed. He added that another soldier was still missing and rescue operation is on to find out the missing soldier.
Pertinently Heavy Snowfall was recorded in Leh District from past two days and MeT had already issued avalanche warning.
