Drain out stagnant water from Sonawar in 2 days: HC to CB | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, Apr 4: The state High Court has asked Cantonment Board authorities to drain out stagnant water from Badamibagh Sonawar within two days. "Respondents are directed to take immediate measures for draining out stagnant water from the residential area of Badamibagh Cantonment Sonwar Srinagar, more particularly from Iqbal colony Sonwar Srinagar," a single bench of the court comprising Justices Muzaffar Hussain Attar said and directed the respondents including Union of India through Sub Area Commander to file response by or before April 6. The court passed the directions while hearing a petition filed by advocate Z A Qureshi, stating that flood water collected in the barks has been drained out and diverted towards the civil population. The dirty water coming out of the GB Pant hospital, he said, has also been diverted towards the residential area, causing lot of inconvenience to people. He the water has remained stagnant in the residential areas, particularly Iqbal colony Sonawar and the height of the water at present is three to four feet. He said that last year the entire area remained submerged in the flood water up to the height of two stories and almost all the houses in the area were destroyed. "Cantonment authorities remained indolent to their responsibilities and duties," he said. |
