Jammu, Apr 4: More than a month after Jammu university authorities suspended three scholars for raising serious allegations against the administration, the said scholars are not being allowed in the campus even as they argue that that have to submit their thesis and their careers were at stake. The authorities of University of Jammu in the month of February, 2015 had suspended three scholars and also banned their entries in the campus. "They exposed misdeed of the authorities and it was their right to raise voices against prevailing mal-practices. But, their careers are being threatened as authorities are not ready to reconsider their decision ", said a faculty member of the JU, seeking not to be named. "It is pity that rather than taking cognizance of the serious issues raised by these scholars, JU authorities tried to gag the whistle blowers "he added. Sunny Babber, Research Scholar, Department of statistics, Gopal Singh, Research scholar Department of Dogri and Manzoor Ahmed, Research Scholar, department of History were suspended for addressing a press conference in which they leveled serious allegations against the JU administration. The expelled scholars have alleged that JU authorities/Evaluator got answer scripts of students evaluated casually by subletting to different evaluators. Following the issue raised by the scholars, an enquiry to hush up the case was ordered. "As usual, the enquiry found no fault on part of administration, and concluded that no such thing had happened in the evaluation", irritated faculty member said. When contacted Dean Student Welfare, University of Jammu Prof Pankaj Shrivastav said that in case of submission of their thesis/dissertation, the scholars could file a request to the Vice Chancellor. "They can file a written request before the VC, but it depends whether it is considered or not", he added. |
