Jammu, Apr 4: A former employee of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) who raised his voice against the corrupt system and was dismissed from the services has appealed the Union Home Minister to order a probe into alleged case of unprescribed distribution of allopathic medicines among the poor people of Jammu and Kashmir by SSB.
The whistle blower in the case Indu Bushan Bali while talking to Early Times said that he was appointed as Senior Field Assistant (Medics, Allopath) in Sashastra Seema Bal(SSB) on 05/12/90 and the department was supposed to provide him medical training for allopathy.
Accordingly, he said, he was trained at departmental training center, Frontier Academy Gwaldom from 06/05/92 to 24/07/92.
After completion of training, he was not satisfied with the same and brought the matter into the notice of his seniors. However, instead of acting on his concern, he was forced by his seniors to give allopathic medicines to the innocent villagers even without the doctor's prescription which, he said, he refused as could have had dreadful consequences in the long run.
He in his complaint stated that after he came to know that his seniors are involved in corruption and are forcing him to give medicines in violation of the proper medical advice he objected following which he was allegedly subjected to harassment and mental torture to the extent that they declared him mentally unfit to continue with the service. Bali said, he was sent to Medical Superintendent Psychiatric Diseases Hospital Jammu in June 1995 where doctors declared him fit. Later he was also labeled as anti-national.
He stated that his wife Sushila Bali wrote a letter to Chief Justice of JK High Court, former PM Atal Bihari Vajpaee seeking justice, but nothing was done and in return Bali was terminated from service on 20/08/2000.
He stated that he and his family suffered for him raising his voice against corrupt system.
He has appealed the Union Home Minister to conduct an inquiry and provide him the justice by providing his job to him, besides taking action against the corrupt officials involved in playing with lives of innocent people by distributing unprescribed medicines among them.
