Ashwani's team sweeps Jammu Press Club elections

Jammu, Apr 4: In keenly contested elections of Jammu Press Club here the team led by Ashwani Kumar emerged victorious on Saturday. Out of eight hundred eight five members, seven hundered twenty three exercised their franchise to elect new body of the Press Club Jammu. Elections were held under the supervision of senior advocate B S Slathia who acted as the Returning Officer.
In the neck to neck fight Ashwani Kumar of Aaj Tak was elected president, while as Abhimanyu Sharma of Daink Jagran was elected vice president, Zorawar Singh was declared as secretary general and Dinesh Manohtra was elected as treasurer.
Twenty six candidates were in fray for seven posts of the executive committee of the Press Club. The youngsters who were elected as executive members are: Nishikant Khajuria , Pawan Sharma, Ajay Bachloo ,Dinesh Mahajan, Vishal Bharti, Deepak Khajuria and Surjit Singh.
Nishikant secured 417 votes, Ajay Bachloo bagged 311 votes, Pawan Sharma got 381 votes, Dinesh Mahajan secured 378 votes, Vishal Bharti got 330 votes, Surjit Singh secured 290 and Deepak Khajuria secured 311 votes.
Ten candidates were in fray for the posts of president, vice president, secretary general and cashier.
For the post of president, two members Ashwani Kumar and Sohail Kazmi were in fray. For vice-president four candidates Abhimanyu Sharma, Ravinder Singh, Arun Sharma and M K Bangroo were in race, for Secretary General Raju Kerni and Zorawar Singh Jamwal were facing each other and for the post of Treasurer two candidates Dinesh Manhotra and Bharat Bhushan were in fray.
