Ashok Dogra demands equitable compensation | | | Early Times Report
RAMBAN, Apr 12: The Secretary, Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) Ashok Kumar Dogra has demanded an equal compensation to the flood or landslide victims of Ramban district as to their counterparts in the Kashmir valley at an earliest. Speaking to the media person in a press conference at his residence yesterday evening he alleged the discrimination in payment of compensation to the flood, landslide, rain and snowfall victims of Ramban district by the present coalition government of J&K. He said that this district being not only one of the most backward and poorest areas has been badly hit by the natural calamities of unprecedented rain or snowfall and landslides where the poor farmers have been the worst sufferers. He has demanded the payment of at least Rs.5 lakh compensation and allotment of at least 10 marla land besides free ration for six months to all the victims in the district. He further said that notwithstanding his defeat during the last assembly elections "influenced by the absolute polarization effected by some zealots and fundamentalists", he is continuing with his old mission of social work, development and communal harmony in his constituency. |
