Sajad Lone maintains silence to appease 'old friends'!
Return of Kashmiri Pandits to Valley

Early Times Report

Jammu, Apr 12: Return of Kashmiri Pandits to the Valley has snowballed into a major controversy and separatists are trying their best to use this opportunity to orchestrate protests and stone pelting in the Valley. They made the first attempt by calling for shutdown on Saturday. Amidst all this clatter, separatist turned mainstream politician, Sajad Lone, who was inducted into cabinet, on BJP quota has maintained silence over the issue.
It seems Sajad Lone, is so busy in reaping the fruits of power that he has forgotten that there are other issues which need to be addressed. Lone, who after joining the mainstream politics used to swear by secularism, seems least interested in whether Kashmiri Pandits return or not.
It seems Sajad Lone doesn't want to annoy his "old friends" Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Yasin Malik who in the absence of Hurriyat hawk Syed Ali Shah Geelani called for a shutdown on Saturday against return of Kashmiri Pandits to Kashmir, their homeland which they were forced to leave 25-years ago.
Sajad Lone, who after meeting the Prime Minister Narendra Modi had called him his elder brother and PM Modi didn't let him down. He (Modi)rewarded him by granting him a cabinet berth in Jammu and Kashmir.
However, Sajad has not shown any inclination towards ensuring that the dream of his "elder brother" (PM Modi) of seeing Pandits returning to the Valley is fulfilled. "By remaining quiet Sajad has proved that he too is also not interested in KPs returning to Kashmir," said a critic.
He said it's not only Sajad Lone who doesn't want KPs to return. "Most of the Kashmir based parties are least interested in seeing Pandits back in the Valley," the critic claimed.
Since the day Sajad Lone has become a minister he has maintained silence over almost all the issues. Sajad during his "hey days" used to appear on almost all the TV channels and left no stone unturned to claim that people want Kashmiri Pandits to return and it's the duty of all the leaders to facilitate their return to Kashmir. Someone needs to ask Sajad Lone if facilitating the return of Kashmiri Pandits just a few months before was his duty then why it is not his duty now when he has become a minister?.
Sajad Lone's silence indicates either he believes that he is a "non-entity" or at heart he is still a separatist masquerading as a mainstream leader. "It's really astounding that Sajad has not even issued a single statement to condemn the separatists who are opposing the return of KPs to their own homeland. Had he been sincere he would have definitely reacted to the politics being played over the return of Pandits to their own homeland," said a politician.
He said hue and cry raised by the separatists over the return of Kashmiri Pandits to the Valley has exposed the separatists and the people who have maintained silence over the issue. "Separatists are opposing return of Kashmiri Pandits to appease their bosses sitting across the Line of Control (LoC) and want to create disturbance in the state to fill their coffers, but why is Sajad Lone silent? Whom he wants to appease?" the politician added.
