Early Times Report

Jammu, Apr 12: Former Mayor of Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) and senior PDP leader Narinder Singh Jamwal has sought a fresh probe into the "mysterious" death of a domestic help of former Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand four years ago.
Sansar Chand, a native of Kalakote, had died allegedly under mysterious circumstances in the official residence of Tara Chand, on September 18, 2009.
Speaking to Early Times, Jamwal said that he had sought information under Right to Information Act from J&K Legislative Assembly Secretariat regarding death of Sansar Chand, as he was an employee of Assembly Secretariat but his dead body was found in the house of Tara Chand.
Jamwal said it was also unknown whether the services of Sansar Chand were placed at the disposal of Tara Chand and whether he was officially posted during the month of September 2009.
The former Mayor said he also wanted to know whether Sansar Chand was on leave from September 15, 2009, onwards and the period for which salary was withdrawn.
"All newspapers of Jammu had reported that Sansar Chand had allegedly consumed some poisonous substance after which he was shifted to GMC Jammu, where he had died. Everyone knew that Sansar Chand had been working at the Deputy CM's house and even the then Speaker of Legislative Assembly, Mohammad Akbar Lone had confirmed to newspapers that Sansar Chand was an employee of state Assembly," Jamwal said.
"Then question arises why not a special investigation was conducted? It was also claimed that Sansar Chand had committed suicide, but no suicide note was recovered and even his family members had refused to buy the police version about suicide," said Jamwal.
He said, "It is also in public domain that mother of Sansar Chand, Swarna Devi had claimed that her son had not committed suicide. Swarna Devi had claimed that on the fateful night, at around 8:30 pm, her son had made a phone call and had spoken for 10-15 minutes and that there was no question of suicide."
Jamwal alleged that Tara Chand hushed up the mysterious death case of Sansar Chand. He demanded immediate constitution of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to unearth the mysterious death of the chef.
