Jammu, Apr 12: Aditi Welfare India Charitable Trust (AWICT) has taken a big step in helping women by launching a helpline especially for women. The 24x7 helpline number on the phone is 94191-06905 and it is called as 'Saheli'. Briefing about the initiative, Aditi Sharma, president of Trust, who is also a prominent social worker and women right activists, said that the program aimed for overall empowerment of women folk. "Trust will only works towards the betterment of women and will provide voice to unheard and underprivileged women, who are the victims of any domestic or social crime," she said. "It will also give an opportunity to them to work in creative sectors and earn livelihood." About 24x7 helpline number, she said, "It will provide an opportunity to discuss their grievances related to family or social and will rescue the female victims of domestic violence. The helpline number also provides them guidance and awareness regarding various other women oriented schemes of central and state government. She said that Trust also have legal experts to provide aid to the victims, who have no means to support their case in courts. Aditi also appreciated the courage of Vibhuti Narian, who fights pillar to post in want of justice for her deceased sister Neha, who had jumped into river Chenab on March 28, 2015 after being tortured by Husband and in-laws family on pretext of dowry. Aditi also hailed police action in case of Neha and hopes that the executing agency always co-operates with the trust to provide justice to women. Other members of trust who presented on the occasion were Neelam Sharma, secretary, Jagdishwar Lal, Harjet Singh, Leela Jamwal, Sunita Sharma, Shusheel Dutt, Vikas Jain and Dharaminder Kumar members. |
