Despite relaxation order in abeyance, candidate enjoys benefits; JU unconcerned | | | Early Times Report
Jammu, Apr 12: Despite order for his admission in M.Phil being in abeyance, a Jammu university scholar is still enjoying many benefits. According to documents with Early Times, a relaxation of one percent marks was given to the student, who was seeking admission for M.Phil. But one year after the order for relaxation was passed, it was kept in abeyance by the university administration. Sources alleged that to accommodate the blue eyed candidate in Dogri Department, the number of intake capacity was enhanced in 2009-10. Also, special relaxation in case of percentage was also given to the candidate. "As per approval accorded by the Vice Chancellor on the recommendations of the department, the M Phil Committee is increasing the number of seats in M Phil course in PG Department of Dogri from the existing 10 to 16 for academic session 2008-09 only," says the admission notice dated 20/02/2009. It further read that Parduman Singhm son of Padam Dev Singh, who had secured 49 per cent marks in MA, is also selected for M Phil. But on March 29, 2010, Assistant Registrar (Academic) issued an order suspending marks relaxation order. "It is notified for the information of all concerned that the earlier notification (09/February/Gen-A/03) issued vide number F.Acd/11/09/1013-1117 dated 11.02.2009 is hereby kept in abeyance," notification number F.Acd/II/176/092962-3027 read. Sources said that since the order for relaxation in marks was kept in abeyance, the admission given under the order should have been cancelled. "But it seems that the rules were altered to accommodate blue-eyed candidates, as despite repeated reminders from the administration the admission is not cancelled," the sources said. On November 1, 2010 Assistant Registrar (ACAD) vide her communication number F.Acd/II/253/10/7143 wrote the Head, PG Department of Dogri. She said, "In case of benefit of relaxation of one per cent accruing to a candidate, according to university order keep the concession in abeyance. Please refer to your office letter number PGD/DG/10/ 482-83 dated October 22, 2010 on the subject cited above. In this connection, it is to inform you that the notification in question has been kept in abeyance and such no benefit under it could be extended to any student." |
