Police public meeting held at Shakti Nagar

Jammu, May 22:A police public meeting was held by Shivkumar Singh Chouhan, SP City North, Jammu at "Om Palace" Shakti Nagar, Jammu in which Sandeep Choudhary, IPS (SDPO City West), Dalip Singh, Inspector SHO police station Bakshi Nagar, Jammu were present. The main motto of the meeting was to aware the general public for drug abuses and its hazardous impact. They have been told that Jammu Police has established a Drug-de-addiction Centre in Gulshan Ground Jammu where free treatment and counseling is being given to such persons. They have been advised to encourage all such persons to visit the centre and avail the benefit. One of the participant namely Kanta Bhan has told that she had sent one drug addicts namely Sunil Kumar Sharma by the help of police in the de-addiction centre DPL, Jammu wherefrom he got his treatment and now he is quite well. She also appreciated the initiative of Jammu Police regarding the treatment is being given to several drug addicts.
The people also appreciated the initiative of Police to organize such meetings where public can declare their expectations from the Police and can also suggest various measures for the improvement in Jammu Police working. He emphasized that there is an urgent need to bridge the gap between the expectations of Public and performance of Police. SP City assured the public that Police would perform its duties in a polite but firm manner and at the same time it would be ensured that the integrity is maintained at all costs. People put-forth their problems before the SP City North which he heard patiently and assured them that their genuine concerns would be solved on priority basis. However, some of the grievances pertaining to police department were solved on the spot by giving directions to the concerned. Besides, the participants were apprised about the increasing deaths in road accidents especially of youths which caused by using drugs as well as rash driving. A detailed briefing were issued to the participants about the use of crash helmets, possessing valid driving licenses besides not to over speed and use Mobile phones while driving to avoid road accident and loss of precious lives. The gathering was 80to 90 persons including Anil Chopra, President Matador Union, Chander Mohan Gupta, Ved Parkash Sharma, Rajinder Singh Jamwal, Puneet Jamwal, Kamal Sharma, Kanta Bhan, Divisional Warden Civil Defence, Vijay Malhotra, Prem Gupta, Sachin Sharma, Social Worker Shakti Nagar, Zorawar Singh Jamwal, Vikas Bhati.
