Jammu May 22: Expressing concerns over raw banking system in remote areas of state Mandli J&K Surya Gram Vikas Samiti Jammu (MJKSGVS ) today alleged irregularities in various banks in remote areas particularly Bararmulla Central Co-operative Bank Tangdar and the State Bank of India Karnah (Kupwara).
Addressing a press conference Jaseel Singh Slathia, President of the Organisation, alleged gross misappropriation have taken place at the Bararmilla Central Co-operative Bank Tangdar and the State Bank of India Branch Karnah ( Kupwara) and also in J&K Bank Branch Tangdar.
Substantiating his allegations, Slathia said, “One Mohd Shafi Baba has opened saving Bank Account in the State Bank India Branch Karnah in the name of his family members and had deposited huge amount against the saving Bank accounts of his family members, but it is unfortunate that the money have been misappropriated by saying that the entries have wrongly been made this has put the beneficiary to lot of financial loss which further has necessitated an investigation into the matter.”
He said depositor has deposited a Rs 2.94 Lakh amount as fixed deposit in the Baramulla Central Go-Operative Bank Branch Tangdar against proper cash certificate, but it is very unfortunate that the authorities at the helm of affairs in the Baramulla Central Co-Operative Bank have denied to make the payment of the maturity amount of the fixed deposits this clearly shows misappropriations of the money of the beneficiary.
“In another case of glaring misappropriation, one Mohd Shafi Baba had deposited huge amount of Rs 13.97 lakh under fixed deposit Scheme against proper cash certificate, but the Bank has denied to make the payment of the maturity amount which also has put this depositor to a lot of Financial Loss, he alleged, further adding, “in this connection the depositor has time and again approached the concerned Banks for release of his amount but all turned in vain and later he approached this NGO with a request for approaching the concerned authorities for ensuring release of his amounts. He added that authorities of the banks concerned were approached through written representation dated 26/11/2014 sent through Speed post, but again no action seems to have been initiated by the concerned authorities, he regretted and said that NGO Mandli J&K Surya Gram Vikas Samiti has filed case to the Crime Branch Jammu for investigation.
