| Cong launches membership drive at Rajouri | | | Early Times Report
RAJOURI, May 22: Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) today launched its ongoing membership drive for Rajouri district under the leadership of Vice President PCC Mula Ram.
On the occasion, Mula Ram, who is also Chairman Baba Saheb B R Ambedkar's 125th year Birth Anniversary Celebration Committee of PCC asked the downtrodden sections of the society to come under the umbrella of Congress party in order to strengthen the social and secular fabric of the state and ensure the overall development of each and every sections of the society.
Launching Membership Drive of the party in Rajouri district today, Mula Ram said that Congress is a strong unifying force which represents each and every section of the pluralistic society and is a vibrant political party in all three regions of the state. He was accompanied by General Secretaries PCC Shabir Ahmed Khan and Choudhary Shah Mohammad, besides District President Choudhary Sain Rashid and other senior DCC leaders of the district.
Mula Ram said that Congress always took land mark steps to uplift the poor and downtrodden sections of the society and ensured the participation of the deprived sections in every sphere of life as per the spirit of the Constitution and the philosophy of Dr Ambedkar.
He said that Congress party has decided to have year long celebrations in connection with 125th year Birth Anniversary of Dr Ambedkar with a view to have thrust on the policies and programmes for the downtrodden sections of the society for which Congress has always remained on the fore-front since independence.
He was critical of the policies of the present centre government which has neglected the downtrodden sections and has reduced allocations for SCs and STs welfare schemes, besides allowing to lapse the Scheduled Castes & Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Amendment Ordinance, 2014.
Meanwhile, the Congress leaders launched membership drive at Nowshera today in a function which was organized by Block Congress Committee led by President Harbans Lal Bakshi and presided over by Master Som Nath-Working President District Rajouri and Ashwani Kumar-Advocate, besides other prominent leaders of the party. |
