| Shopkeepers of Banihal stage protest against PDD | | |  Early Times Report
BANIHAL, May 22: Shopkeepers of Banihal town today held a strong protest against Power Development Department (PDD), the erratic power supply for the last one week in the main market.
Shouting slogans against the PDD, the protesting shopkeepers blocked the traffic on NH1A for more than half an hour.
Reports said that dozens of shopkeepers of Banihal town of main market and Nagbal Bazaar Heavy traffic jam was seen in Banihal market on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway and it took more than one hour for the police and traffic police to restore smooth flow of vehicular movement.
The angry shopkeepers demanded the immediate restoration of power supply in the market.
They alleged that the department is not serious on the frequent power cuta in the market and after so many requests in past they failed to provide them this essential service properly. Soon after the protest started SDPO Banihal Choudhary Rafiq, officers of Tehsil administration and SHO Banihal Tariq Naik rushed to the spot and assured the protestors for regular power supply after that they called off their protest. |
