JAMMU, May 22 : A two day long Central Counselling Workshop of Northern Command organized by Army Public School (APS), Nagrota concluded today at the school premises. Principal of the School Maninder Kaur Kakkar gave a warm welcome to the Resource Person Dr J N Baliya, Assistant Professor Central University Jammu and the participants from APS Udhampur, APS Dhar Road, APS Rakhmuthi, APS Srinagar and APS Akhnoor. Dr J N Baliya in his presentation highlighted the "Emerging Challenges in Teaching" and "The Importance of Counselling in Schools". He mentioned CBCS - Choice Based Credit System, it is a new policy coming soon that will be applied in schools and colleges in which students can choose any subject of their choice. Shruti Singh, Counsellor APS Nagrota, enlightened all with the presentation on "Teacher as Counsellor." She stressed on the need of identifying learning disabilities, ADHD - Autism and Behavioural Disorders, among children. She presented animated minds boggling ways how to empathize with special children. She gave impressive presentation on "Counselling Skills". She explained 'Goals of Counselling in Schools', 'Basic Counselling Skills' like positive regard, empathy, listening, responding skills and body language. |
