Sports Council, Floriculture Deptt put lives of students at stake | Fail to remove 2 decayed trees from practice zone | | Shiv Dev Thakur
Early Times Report
Jammu, May 25: Lackadaisical attitude of Sports council and Floriculture department in Jammu has put life of many students at stake. Reliable sources told Early Times that both the Sports Council and Floriculture department are putting the lives of students at stake as they are practicing in a "danger zone" as the two decaying trees which are present there where they practice can fall any time owing to the decay. Sources said that both the departments are in slumber and are waiting for a tragedy to strike. Sports Council is aware about the risk being posed by the decayed trees while the Floriculture is sleeping over the issue. Sources said that even after repeated complaints lodged by the parents of the students both the departments have failed to act. Sports officer Rajan Sharma when contacted, passed the buck saying, " The park is not in council's Jurisdiction, only Floriculture department is liable to answer". Earlier when contacted by Early Times Director Floriculture Jammu, instead of taking appropriate action, had blamed the media saying, "If we will cut the trees media will raise hue and cry." Meanwhile, after the correspondent contested his logic, he changed his tone and assured the immediate action would be taken and even after the assurances given by him nothing has been done till date.
