JKTG holds meet, demands release of pending salary

Jammu, May 31: Demanding immediate release of pending salary of thousands of teachers of Jammu and Kashmir working under various state and centrally sponsored schemes, members of Jammu and Kashmir Teachers Guild (JKTG) today held an urgent meeting at its zonal headquarter Chowki Choura under the chairmanship of NA Qurashi.
According to press release, Qurashi said that the burning issue of non- release of salaries of teachers came into discussion on threadbare basis and detailed deliberations were held on the issue of pending salaries of teaching professionals, who performed their duties with dedications but are without salaries since long. Teachers, who have to pay the liabilities are being harassed by the authorities.
Ajeet Singh, Member Zonal Unit also expressed his anguish over the non serious attitude of the authorities on salary issue and other demands including regularization of Rehbar-e-Taleem teachers.
They appealed to the Education Minister Naeem Akhtar, Finance Minister Haseeb Drabu and Minister of State Education Priya Sethi to look into the matter seriously and address the all grievances of teaching professionals particularly pending salaries on priority basis. On the appeal of N. A. Qurashi, all teachers, Masters and R-e-T teachers, who were present in the meeting, wore black badges to register their peaceful protest.
State General Secretary of Teachers Guild, Vijay Kumar Sharma said that it is for the first time in the history of Jammu and Kashmir that the teachers who are performing their duties in extra ordinary situations have been deprived of their salaries since September 2014 and the state authorities at the helm of affairs are sleeping over. He further said that it is the responsibility of government to release salary of its employees well in time. He expressed serious concerns over the scarcity of funds and appealed to the government to fix responsibility of those at the helm of affairs for delaying release of salaries.
Mohan Lal, Tarsem Lal, Harish Kumar, Pawan Kumar, Manga Ram, Baboo Ram, Banarsi Dass, Prabh Dayal, Pritam Chand, Madan Lal, Ram Krishan, Raghu Nath, Pawan Kumar, Shiv Kumar, Bal Krishan, Pawan Kumar, Subash Chander and Surinder Singh were also present during the meeting.
