Tower 'terrorism' will render 50000 people jobless in J&K | | | Early Times Report KISHTWAR, June 4: Even though the Jammu and Kashmir police has managed to partially restore the telecommunication network in Kashmir valley after a militant outfit Lashker-e-Islam (a shadow outfit of Hizbul Mujahdeen) threatened the telecom operators in valley to close its services and even launched a series of terror attack in North and South Kashmir, beside in the heart of Srinagar city resulted into the death of two persons, the rate of unemployment in already unemployment hit state of Jammu and Kashmir is likely to increase further as it will effect over 50,000 jobs if militant organization succeeded in its mission. As per the details collected by various agencies, over 50,000 people are associated with mobile networking system in Jammu and Kashmir which include recharge outlets, mobile sale centers, call centers, tower operators, engineers, private security guards and regular employees associated with major telecom operators like Airtel, BSNL, Vodafone, Aircel and Idea having over 50 lakh customer base in J&K. It is not only private job that falls prey to fresh militant dictates, but state will also suffered on account of revenue collected through taxes imposed on sale of mobiles and its accessories. Jammu and Kashmir has over 6 lac unemployed youths which is highest unemployment ratio in the country as per the population ratio of the state which is approximately 5% of the total population of the state. It is pertinent to mention that over 40,000 youths lost their jobs after internet company Tata Docomo withdraw its Photon internet services from Jammu and Kashmir couple of years ago. The company before living J&K even did not repay its customers who purchased company dongle for Rs. 2,000 to 2,500. |
