SSA teachers accuse Govt for not paying pending salaries | | | Early Times Report
Srinagar, June 17 : As the Jammu & Kashmir government claimed that it has released Rs 436 crore for reimbursing pending salaries of teachers working under Sarva Shikhshya Abhiyan (SSA), the later Wednesday claimed same have not been disbursed. "Though the government claimed that they had made funds available for the reimbursement of our pending salaries the fact is that we did not the pending salaries of last four months," one of the female SSA teachers said. Another teacher said that they were running from pillar to post for their salaries, but to no avail. "I haven't received salary of three months and despite repeated requests to the concerned officials, my salary is not released," he said. One of SSA 3rd teacher said, "My salary was pending since January and after release of funds I was expecting the release of my pending salary but I was shocked when my account was deposited with only one month's salary." It is pertinent to mention here that the Jammu & Kashmir Government had claimed that it has released Rs 436 crore for reimbursing pending salaries of teachers under the SSA. "We have received Rs 396 crore from the Centre under Sarva Shikhshya Abhiyan and with the state share of Rs 40 crore, a total amount of Rs 436 crore has been made available for reimbursement of the pending salaries of teachers," Education Minister Naeem Akhtar had said. |
