Wet weather from today again, mercury remains below normal in Kashmir

Srinagar, June 17: Wet weather is predicted again in the region from tomorrow while the mercury remained below normal in the Kashmir valley though the weather remained dry during the past 24 hours.
A Met department spokesperson said here this afternoon that there could be isolated rain or thundershowers from tomorrow till Saturday and scattered rain is predicted on Sunday.
He said there could be scattered to fairly wide-spread rain or thundershower in Jammu division, where the maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 40 degrees Celsius and 26 degrees respectively during the next 24 hours.
Though sun was out today, the intensity of the heat was less due to cold winds in the valley, where the maximum and minimum temperatures remained below normal.
World famous ski resort of Gulmarg and health resort of Pahalgam recorded seven degrees minimum temperature, two and one degree below normal respectively.
At Qazigund, the minimum temperature was 12.
2 degrees, Kokernag 12 degrees and Kupwara 11.
5 degrees which was below normal.
The summer capital, Srinagar, witnessed further drop of about half-a-degree below normal temperature though weather remained dry.
Against yesterday's 14.
4 degrees minimum temperature , it was 14 degree, a notch below normal, in the city, where life remained crippled due to strike called by separatists against Sopore killings of four persons by unidentified gunmen during the past one week.
He said the sky would be mainly clear but will become cloudy in the afternoon in the city and the maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 28 degree and 14 degree respectively.
However, Leh recorded one degree increase in the minimum temperature and there was half a notch drop in the mercury at border town of Kargil.
He said the sky would be mainly clear and the maximum and minimum temperatures would be around 22 degrees and nine degrees respectively during the next 24 hours in Leh.
